Birthday in Taos
Well the day job forced a slight delay on the trip. Matt and I weren't supposed to work, but what do you know, we got put on the schedule
the day before. But for a day job, not much of it was accomplished during the day. Showed up at 2:30pm and didn't get out of there until
2am, awesome. Went home, got changed, grabbed a bite to eat at Taco Cabana. Took longer than we expected though because it was Friday
night, all the bars just closed and we found ourselves at one of the after hours spots. Afer some tacos we get home around 4ish, keeping
in mind that peeps are showing up at our place at 5am. Matt got no sleep whatsoever, I took a tiny nap and was awakened by the sweetest
girl around.
Nothing too exciting for the ride up there. Me and LuElena were in one car, Matt, Erica, Jake in another and Marisa, Mark and Stacy in
the last car. After we grabbed some rentals for those without, I jumped in with car 2 and Lu left for her grandma's. She's not into the
whole skiing thing, though, she'd make a great ski-bunny. Taos is amazing. Great snow and no lift lines. It sucks they don't let boarders
there but oh well. So the bday is going great so far. After skiing we got a hotel room and started getting ready for the night, oh and Lu
rejoined the gang. At first we thought we lost Marisa, Mark and Stacy, but the good sense got back in their heads and they decided to stay
and party hardy. A quick stop for some eats at a seriously traditional mexican place and we were ready to roll.
Hmmm, I forget what the bar was called, but there was a pretty decent blues band playing and free drinks. Not exactly free, but it was my
birthday so everyone was buying drinks for me. It was a great little bar with all sorts of different people. I actually never thought I'd
see a nazi hippie, but sure enough there was one there. And if I had to guess, approximately 10% of the girls there shaved their armpits.
Closing time was fairly early but we were drunk enough not to notice. Back to the hotel Matt held down one side of the king sized bed to
make sure it didn't go anywhere. He was definitely concerned, especially with how much the room was spinning. After part one of my
birthday present it was time for bed. Woke up early to ski the next day but realized we were either still drunk or way too hung over to
accomplish that. Instead we drove to Santa Fe to do some touristy things, grab some pizza then head back home.
All in all a great birthday spent with people I truely enjoy being around. Special thanks to LuElena, Matt, Marisa, Mark, Stacy, Erica
and Jake.
